Governorship Election: Defend Your Votes, Cleric Tells Enugu Labour Party Supporters

Alphonsus Nweze

Labour Party faithful and members of Obedient Movement in Enugu State have been urged to be vigilant to protect their votes in the Saturday 18, 2023 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections.

The General Overseer of Bible Base and Miracle Assembly, Onitsha, Anambra State, Rev. Jerry Nwachukwu, who gave this advice while speaking to newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra State said that it has become important for Labour Party to be vigilant to resist the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) hawks who are bent at stopping their candidate, Mr. Chijioke Edeoga, from coasting to victory in the election.

Rev. Nwachukwu urged the people of Enugu State to vote and strive hard to protect their votes during the poll.

He said the star of the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in the State has shown like Northern star, stressing that nobody can stop Edeoga’s star from shinning.

Rev. Nwachukwu however said the party in power, PDP is doing everything possible to thwart the emergence of Edeoga, including deploying huge resources to compromise the security operatives and the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said that the ruling PDP might even deploy hoodlums who might cause confusion, inflict injuries and maim people at the polling units in attempts to frustrate voters of Enugu State from freely exercising their franchise.

The General Overseer therefore called on the Labour Party supporters not only to vote for their candidates but to also strive hard to protect their votes from the time of voting to the final declaration of results.

He also advised that the polling unit agents and members of Obedients family should ensure that the results are uploaded to the INEC public viewing portal as prescribed by the Electoral Act and guidelines.
